1st June 2012
The Whittington Hospital NHS Trust today announces that it has selected the Medway solution from System C, as the Trust’s new patient administration and electronic patient record system (PAS/EPR).
The Whittington serves a catchment population of about 440,000 people; with a turnover of £277 million and over 4,000 staff. It operates around 450 inpatient and day beds at the Whittington Hospital and 16 health centres across the two boroughs and receives 86 per cent of referrals for acute services from Haringey and Islington GPs. The Trust is currently using McKesson Totalcare PAS and the majority of Trust staff will use the new Medway system.
Solutions purchased by The Whittington include PAS, accident and emergency, maternity, theatres, child health records and the clinical data collection module. Medway is also supplied with an integrated portal and the Medway BI data warehouse/ reporting system. The contract was signed in March following a four month procurement using the NHS Additional Supply Capability and Capacity framework (ASCC). The solution will be installed in phases during 2013/14.
Glenn Winteringham, IT Director at the Whittington said, “The Whittington is ambitious and innovative and prides itself on the quality of its patient care. We selected Medway because it is fast, modern, flexible and a good match for NHS requirements. Also, the McKesson / System C people are knowledgeable, experienced, friendly and have an excellent track record for delivery. We are very much looking forward to going live with them next year”.
