Colchester Hospital and the System C Medway EPR go-live
18th December 2014
The Trust provides healthcare services to around 370,000 people from Colchester and the surrounding area of north east Essex. In addition, it provides radiotherapy and oncology services to a wider population of about 670,000 people across north and mid-Essex.
Some 1,000 users across the Trust have gone live with System C’s Medway EPR, including the company’s PAS, A&E, theatres and maternity modules. About 37 million records were migrated across to the Medway platform (known locally in the Trust as ‘The Portal’).
The software is the platform for a full electronic patient record and portal system at the Trust.
Nick Chatten, special projects director at the Trust, said: “Our staff worked tirelessly to plan and prepare for this deployment, and this has really paid off. The deployment was a tribute to them.
“We are very grateful for the contribution System C has made in terms of their commitment to the go live process and the wealth of experience and attention to detail they have brought to bear.”
Medway has replaced the Trust’s existing McKesson TotalCare software and its Bedweb and Theatreweb systems.
“Replacement of a such a broad range of functionality that impacts almost every operating process in a hospital is a big task and the go-live is just the start of this process”, commented Markus Bolton, joint chief executive of System C.
“We are really pleased with the progress to date and will be working hard over the next few months to bed the system down and to help the Trust to maximise the benefits.”
This is the 19th Medway deployment System C has completed in the last two years.
