After 25 years as a midwife, Shereen Bryan has built a career centred on supporting maternity and neonatal services while helping her fellow clinicians navigate organisational and digital change. Shereen’s senior role has now developed into more of a perinatal lead position, where she manages Clinical Transformation Specialists across maternity and neonatal, while continuing to support organisations using BadgerNet throughout their transformation journeys.

This role helps her combine her extensive clinical experience and a passion for empowering others. Having progressed from being a Clinical Transformation Specialist to Senior Transformation Specialist and now into leadership, Shereen’s focus remains firmly on supporting people.

“I’ve always been passionate about empowering people and helping them do well.”

Supporting Maternity and Neonatal Transformation

Alongside leading a team, Shereen continues to work closely with our customers across maternity and neonatal services. Her role spans across implementation, adoption and optimisation, where she helps organisations realise the full benefits of their digital systems throughout every stage of their journey.

Shereen also plays an incredibly important role in supporting trusts and our customers beyond implementation. Where she ensures that teams are confident in their processes and able to make the most of the technology after go-live.

Her experience as a midwife remains central to her approach. Understanding the realities of frontline care allows her to work collaboratively with organisations while keeping clinical needs at the heart of every conversation.

A New Chapter in Leadership

While supporting customers remains an important part of her role, stepping into management has introduced a new opportunity for Shereen.

Now leading a team of five clinical specialists, Shereen has embraced the chance to mentor colleagues, support their development and encourage them to take ownership of their work.

“I believe in lifting others up and helping people develop.”

For Shereen, leadership is about creating an environment where people feel empowered to succeed and develop confidence in their own abilities.

As she continues to grow as a leader herself, Shereen has found joy in supporting colleagues and helping them on their way to reach their potential.

Putting People First

One aspect of her role she enjoys the most is the opportunity to connect with people.

Whether supporting customers, working alongside colleagues or mentoring members of her team, Shereen believes strong relationships are essential to success.

“It’s important to check in with people and understand how they are.”

Her leadership style is rooted in communication, encouragement and understanding. Regular conversations, sharing knowledge and supporting personal development are all important parts of how she works.

Her leadership still has been directly shaped by the support she has received throughout her own career. Through mentorship programmes and guidance from colleagues and leaders around her, Shereen has continued to develop the confidence and skills needed to take the next step in her career.

Continuing to Learn

Shereen has also been exploring new opportunities to develop her knowledge and has been accepted onto the Level 4 Business Analyst (AI Transformation Specialist) course. For her, continuous learning is not only about personal growth, but also about ensuring she can effectively support customers and colleagues in the future.

“I always say, the world is your oyster. If it’s something you want to do, go for it.”

Is the advice she would offer to anyone considering a new challenge, particularly those thinking about moving into leadership roles. Having the confidence to try something new, while drawing on support from those around you, can help to open doors to new opportunities and experiences.

Creating Opportunities Through Community

Alongside her responsibilities, Shereen is also helping to establish our Black Heritage Group.

Having been involved in the DEI and Belonging Group at System C for the past two years, she was keen to play a role in creating a dedicated community where colleagues can connect, support one another and build meaningful professional relationships.

For Shereen, the group’s purpose is centred around creating opportunities.

“One of the biggest things about the network is to actually network, get to know each other and understand what we all want.”

She hopes the group will provide a space where colleagues can learn from one another, share experiences and build supportive networks across the business.

“It’s really important that we inspire each other, support each other and create opportunities.”

While the group’s journey is only just beginning, Shereen is excited about its potential to bring people together and help create pathways for personal and professional development across the organisation.
