Today (17 June), alongside the Health Service Executive (HSE), we announced the next phase of a landmark national agreement that will see CareFlow Pharmacy deployed in every hospital across the Republic of Ireland. Nine hospitals are now live following a rapid deployment programme, with a further twelve sites scheduled to go live during 2026. A third phase, due to begin later this year, will extend the rollout to the remaining 34 hospitals, making Ireland one of the first countries in the world to operate a fully integrated digital pharmacy system across its entire public hospital network.

Enhancing Medication Safety and Operational Efficiency

This rapid deployment modernises the HSE’s pharmacy infrastructure, dramatically enhancing medication safety, inventory control, and operational efficiency across the health service. The system replaces paper-based prescription processes, bringing transparency and cost control to potentially billions of euros worth of drug prescriptions that were not previously tracked.

CareFlow Pharmacy, our flagship solution, is a fully integrated system that consolidates information on medications, patients, prescribers, suppliers, and finances, leading to reduced waste and lower operational costs. The deployment aligns directly with the HSE’s strategic goal of building strong foundations by digitising and standardising pharmacy services, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

Collaborating with HSE to Deploy CareFlow Pharmacy Across Ireland

Throughout 2025, we collaborated with HSE on an ambitious national programme to deploy CareFlow Pharmacy across multiple hospitals in Ireland. The rollout commenced at The Rotunda Hospital in March and continued successfully through St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin, Phoenix Care Centre, Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, South Infirmary-Victoria University Hospital, and, most recently, Tallaght University Hospital, which went live in November. Including the two earlier implementations at Galway and Merlin Park prior to 2025, a total of nine hospitals are now live with CareFlow Pharmacy.

The next phase of the national agreement is now underway, with a further twelve hospital sites scheduled for deployment during 2026. Four of these are already in rollout, with the fourth site going live this weekend. The 2026 phase will build on and replicate the proven deployment model established during the successful 2025 programme.

CareFlow Pharmacy Deployed Across More Than Fifty Hospital Sites Nationwide

A third phase of the agreement will extend CareFlow Pharmacy to a further 34 hospitals across Ireland. Work on this phase is scheduled to begin later this year, running in parallel with the ongoing 2026 rollout as further sites continue to come online. Once complete, the programme will see CareFlow Pharmacy deployed across more than fifty hospital sites nationwide.

The success of this programme positions the HSE to potentially become one of the first health services in the Republic of Ireland to deploy a national digital healthcare system, marking a significant milestone in the country’s healthcare digital maturity.

Continuing Acceleration Across Ireland in 2026 and Beyond

Guy Lucchi, Managing Director of Healthcare at System C, said: “The success of this rollout is a testament to the close collaboration between System C and the HSE. Together, we’re not just implementing technology; we’re co-creating a digital ecosystem that supports clinicians, empowers patients, and strengthens the health service for the future. We look forward to continuing this acceleration across Ireland in 2026 and beyond.”
