Oxfordshire County Council initially operated a council-led directory for adult services. However, this was not actively maintained and as a result it quickly became out of date.

In response, another solution was developed with a voluntary sector partner, which focused on community activities and was well maintained, but a key issue was that its scope was largely limited to older people.

To address these limitations, Oxfordshire County Council required a single, sustainable solution that could bring together adult social care information, community services, and council-led content in one place. They also had desires to support a preventative approach aligned with the Care Act 2014.

Selecting Liquidlogic Commissioning Directory to create Live Well Oxfordshire

Oxfordshire County Council chose the Liquidlogic Commissioning Directory to create Live Well Oxfordshire, a digital platform for adults aged 18+.

Live Well Oxfordshire is a user-friendly online resource that brings together over 2,800 activities and services in the local community. The directory also includes adult social care services that offer advice on benefits and allowances, independent financial advice and management of debt.

Data from previous systems was migrated and combined with information from multiple council and partner sources into a single service.

Live Well Oxfordshire swiftly launched in 2015 and now acts as a central access point for information, services, groups, and activities, supporting people to stay well and make greater use of community-based support.

How the Platform Supports Delivery Across Oxfordshire

Live Well Oxfordshire provides a structured and scalable foundation that supports the central management of information while keeping content consistent and up to date. The platform enables residents to self-serve, allowing them to access key information.

Alongside digital access, Live Well Oxfordshire includes a dedicated telephone number and email contact to support people who do not have internet access. This generates around 150 phone calls and 450 emails per month.

By moving away from fragmented and outdated solutions, Oxfordshire now uses a single source of trusted information that brings together the council, voluntary sector, and health and care organisations in one place.

“Live Well Oxfordshire is vital to achieving the Oxfordshire way vision. We want to make it easier to access information and support and work with the market to improve local provision and support.” Says Lorraine DonnachieOxfordshire County Council, Joint Senior Commissioning Officer for Age Well Commissioning.

93% of Enquires are Resolved at the First Point of Contact

The Live Well Oxfordshire platform has seen steady growth in use and has become a core resource for residents and professionals within Oxfordshire. Data shows that 93% of enquiries to the Council are resolved at the first point of contact, guiding people to the right advice or services in their community and Live Well Oxfordshire plays a vital role in this.

Through marketing campaigns running from April 2023, Live Well Oxfordshire gained approximately 1.3 million impressions and 11,000 click-throughs on the platform, helping raise awareness and use of the platform across Oxfordshire.

The platform plays a pivotal role in supporting people in accessing information and services that enable them to remain independent and stay in their own homes for longer.

Learning and the Future

The development of Live Well Oxfordshire demonstrates the importance of a well-maintained, centralised digital platform in delivering preventative strategies. The platform demonstrates how a flexible Commissioning solution can support long-term sustainability, improve access to information, and enable collaboration across the wider system.
