We are proud to announce the launch of our brand new AI “Assistant,” a cutting-edge tool designed to revolutionise clinical documentation and patient care. This innovative AI Assistant, available as part of CareFlow EPR, leverages a secure and compliant Microsoft-hosted version of the ChatGPT large language model (LLM). It interprets transcripts and content from clinicians, integrates EPR-specific configuration information, and generates structured draft documentation, including handovers, patient-identified referrals between hospital teams, and patient-identified tasks.

CareFlow EPR & AI Integration

CareFlow EPR is built purely with the NHS in mind and facilitates clinical and patient safety throughout. System C’s responsible approach to AI adoption ensures that clinicians are required to review and accept the AI-assisted generated content, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Proof of Value with North Bristol NHS Trust

North Bristol NHS Trust is currently running a Proof of Value trial with the CareFlow AI Assistant, across ED and the Stroke Department. The trial aims to:-

  • Reduce the time required to generate SBAR handovers, team referrals, and patient-identified tasks
  • Improve the quality and consistency of documentation
  • Enhance patient flow efficiency by initiating actions like tasks and referrals earlier
  • Improve clinician experience by allowing them to work more quickly and freely. “We are proud to be at the forefront of this technology, collaborating with System C as they develop AI across their suite of systems. Our efforts are focused on ensuring it works effectively for our clinicians and meets their needs safely and securely.”

“Early feedback from clinicians has been positive, suggesting that the AI Assistant has helped to streamline the SBAR process and saved time when making referrals to other teams.”

Stewart Robinson, Joint Chief Systems and Product Officer, North Bristol NHS Trust and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.

Insights from System C

Guy Lucchi, Managing Director of Healthcare at System C said: ‘It’s exciting to see the Proof of Value under way with Bristol. We can see first-hand how the tangible application of AI can optimise patient pathways, readily introduce efficiencies and ultimately release time to care. We are talking to other CareFlow EPR customers to build out further use cases that will go into trial later this year.’

System C’s AI Assistant represents a significant step forward in leveraging AI technology to support clinicians, improve patient care, and streamline clinical workflows.
