We are pleased to announce that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated that the near-term science-based greenhouse gas emissions reductions targets submitted by System C Healthcare Limited conform with the SBTi Criteria and Recommendations.
Creating a SBTi Target
“System C commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year. System C Healthcare also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions by 25% within the same timeframe”
Validation of our targets places us in a select group of only 7,000+ companies worldwide with validated targets, thereby demonstrating our climate leadership.
About The Science Based Targets Initiative
The SBTi is a corporate climate action organisation that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis. SBTi develops standards, tools and guidance which allow companies to set greenhouse gas emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below catastrophic levels and reach net-zero by 2050 at the latest. SBTi partners are CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the We Mean Business Coalition, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
Latest climate science from the IPCC – described by the UN as “code red for humanity” – shows it is still possible to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C, but we are dangerously close to that threshold. Therefore, it is incredibly important to assure rapid and deep emission cuts to halve global emissions before 2030 and achieving net-zero before 2050.
