Kerrie Blake is a Senior Clinical Support Officer at System C. She has made significant contributions to the field of maternity, neonatal, and early pregnancy care. With a career spanning over three years at System C and extensive experience in the NHS, Kerrie brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her role.
Kerrie’s journey in healthcare began in 2008 at NHS Borders, where she worked in maternity services, focusing on postnatal and community care. Her dedication to supporting vulnerable women and their families, particularly those facing challenges such as addiction and social services involvement, set the foundation for her compassionate approach to healthcare.
In her current role at System C, Kerrie oversees clinical engagement and optimisation. Kerrie works closely with customers to customise and deploy healthcare solutions. She is also the clinical lead for the Early Pregnancy and Gynaecology Unit Product (EPAGU).
Gaining International Experience
Kerrie’s commitment to making a difference extends beyond the U.K. She has participated in international projects, notably at St Francis Hospital in Zambia. Her trips in 2015 and 2018 involved providing teaching support to nurses and midwives, focusing on obstetric emergencies. These experiences highlighted the stark differences in resources between the U.K and Zambia, inspiring Kerrie to appreciate and leverage what she has to help others.
Supporting Innovative Projects
Kerrie’s innovative spirit led to the creation of “Kerrie’s Tuck Shop” at St Francis Hospital, a project aimed at generating revenue for the hospital. This initiative provided essential supplies to patients and visitors, while also employing local staff and fostering a sense of community.
Additionally, Kerrie spearheaded the establishment of a greenhouse and vegetable production project in 2015. This project utilised a plot of land owned by the hospital to locally produce fruit and vegetables, providing food for patients and generating additional revenue by selling surplus produce. The gardens are currently managed by a lead greenkeeper and four additional workers. They cultivate a variety of vegetables, including tomatoes, onions, cabbage, Indian cabbage, and sugar cone.
Supporting Charity Work
Kerrie has been actively involved with the Logie Legacy Charity, a collaboration between NHS Borders and St Francis Hospital in Zambia. This charity has undertaken various projects, including those focused on HIV, sewage works, and water pipes. Kerrie continues to contribute her expertise in maternity care to support the charity’s ongoing efforts.
Current Role and Future Aspirations
In her current role, Kerrie finds immense satisfaction in working alongside digital midwives and seeing successful deployments of healthcare systems. Her passion for System C’s products and the positive feedback from midwives and nurses drives her to continue excelling in her field.
Looking ahead, Kerrie aims to delve deeper into project management and research within System C, contributing to clinical transformations and driving the success of healthcare solutions.
Kerrie’s dedication to healthcare, both locally and internationally, showcases her commitment to making a positive impact.
