CarePlus
Our child health and immunisation solution manages comprehensive active electronic records for children, including immunisation rates and developmental checks. It supports local safeguarding teams as well as health visitors and school nurses and, at the population level, plays an important role in public health.
CarePlus is a complex system which integrates with numerous systems and services – schools, maternity providers, blood spot screening labs, health visitor teams and newborn hearing programme providers. It is the first system to connect to NHS Digital’s new National Event Management Service, supporting child health information being available digitally to health professionals and parents at the point of care.
It has a comprehensive range of fully-integrated modules, supporting the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) and NHS England’s child health digital strategy.
It can be deployed in a single instance for one organisation, or over a number of organisations using a single database, in line with NHS England recommendations. CarePlus is used to provide seamless child health records in this way across London and the South West, South Central and the West Midlands regions.
The National Immunisation Management System
CarePlus and CareCentric are used together to provide vaccination services for child health, flu and Covid. The National Immunisation Management System (NIMS) provides the supporting IT to manage the flu and Covid vaccination programmes across England. The system holds a record of all flu and Covid vaccinations given at an individual patient level and is able to schedule the calling of patients in the various priority groups by sending letters, emails or text message invitations according to schedules which are matched to the availability of vaccines. NIMS also includes a data capture service which collects details of patients at the point of vaccination and a reporting service which allows progress to be monitored at any level from nationally to individual GP practice. NIMS is a national system and it manages vaccination details for over 60m people.

Central Manchester Foundation Trust have been using CarePlus to support child health in North, South and Central Manchester since 2009 and we are very pleased with both the product and the service. We see many advantages to larger footprint child health systems and we would be delighted for other communities to share our service.
