System C’s new report highlights how AI can support clinicians, reduce administrative burden, and enable safer, more efficient care across healthcare settings.

A new report from System C, AI with Purpose: Insights from 300 Voices Shaping the Future of Health and Social Care,” reveals a strong appetite for artificial intelligence across the NHS and wider healthcare sector – with the majority of respondents agreeing that AI can help streamline tasks and improve care delivery.

The findings, published on 17th November 2025, are based on a targeted survey conducted by System C in September and October 2025, encompassing the thoughts of nearly 300 professionals across health, social care, and education. Respondents included clinicians, NHS digital leads, and transformation teams, offering a rich cross-section of perspectives on AI’s role in public service delivery.

The report reveals

  • 93% of healthcare professionals believe well-designed AI will help them deliver better care.
  • 86% say AI’s most valuable role is reducing repetitive tasks like documentation and referrals.
  • 89% say integration with existing systems (like EPRs) is important; 79% call it critical.

AI working with purpose

System C is at the forefront of ethical AI development within healthcare. Its key technologies, such as the CareFlow Ambient AI Consultations, are embedded directly into CareFlow EPR, helping clinicians reduce admin, improve documentation quality, and restore time for patient interaction.

The report aims to provide an insight into the attitudes and approach towards AI adoption in healthcare, addressing the most pressing concerns raised by professionals: integration, safety and value. It synthesises insights from nearly 300 practitioners, including frontline clinicians and digital leads. Crucially, the report highlights how AI can give time back to practitioners – allowing them to focus on what matters most: spending meaningful time with the patient and delivering high-quality, person-centred care. By improving the experience for both professionals and those receiving support, AI has the potential to enhance outcomes across the sector.

Keyur Jani, Pharmacy IT System Manager, London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, says: “AI can work silently behind the scenes, identifying patterns and streamlining processes that are currently resource-intensive and prone to human error.”

Dr Jon Shaw, AI Lead, System C, adds: “AI tools that impact clinical workflow are increasingly being classified as medical devices, subject to rigorous validation and safety certification. This is essential for building trust.”

Brian Collins, CTO, System C, says: “This report confirms what we’ve long believed – that successful AI in healthcare must be built with purpose, not hype. Native integration into platforms like CareFlow EPR ensures AI works within existing workflows, not around them. Trust-by-design governance, human-led innovation, and clear ROI modelling are essential to building confidence and securing investment. Looking ahead, AI will increasingly become part of the digital workforce – strengthening the clinical expertise and insights that exist today.”

Guy Lucchi, Healthcare Managing Director, System C, says: “This report shows that AI is no longer a future ambition — it’s a present-day solution. By embedding ethical, human-first AI into the systems professionals already use, we can help NHS organisations deliver better care, reduce admin, and improve outcomes.”
