With the drive towards a more child-centred approach to service delivery and effective ways of sharing information about children between departments and agencies, the complete picture of a child and family’s circumstances becomes an essential requirement. Liquidlogic has a proven set of products which can be combined to offer a comprehensive system across your child protection service.

LiquidLogic Child Protection (LCS)

The Child Protection solution provides full case management capabilities from reporting concerns about children at risk of abuse, through to child protection, out of home care and adoption.

WorkFlows

The Liquidlogic solution offers customers workflows that can be configured to match core child protection business processes and the ability to design new workflows. This ensures that key regulatory and local requirements are met in the correct sequence and with authorisation steps for managers or team leaders, where required.

The system supports legislative compliance and helps users see the journey of the child and any current work using visual pathway maps. Government reports as required by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare are provided in addition to a range of other management information reports and helpful tools to provide effective case management oversight. Liquidlogic is the market-leading supplier of child protection systems in the UK and is currently implementing in the Northern Territory for Child Protection and Youth Justice Services. Feedback from recent tender wins indicates that the solution is judged as highly adaptable and user friendly

Early Help Services Module (EHM)

The Liquidlogic Early Help Module can be used to support the delivery of a range of early intervention services and programmes. Effective early intervention services can help to identify problems sooner and prevent children from escalating to child protection services. The Liquidlogic Early Help solution is designed to case manage and monitor this and offers the following benefits.

Case Management

For children and families who have additional needs and require targeted support but who do not meet the threshold for child protection. This comes with configurable workflows to offer customers the ability to capture forms, assessments, and plans contained in a workflow to mirror the customer’s business processes.

Service Request & Delivery by Stakeholders

within early help interventions, workers can oversee and manage the provision of services that might be delivered by other partners.

Referrals to and from Child Protection Services

Where serious safety concerns emerge and/or children’s needs escalate, workers can make referral requests to child protection services within the system. In addition, child protection services can also make a request for early help services for a child and family towards the end of their involvement where some level of continued support is considered necessary.

Financial Management

Financial management is a key component of child protection services, particularly as budgetary pressures continue to bite. Liquidlogic’s finance solution interfaces with the child protection and early help services modules, to enable the true costs associated with a child and family to be understood. This can include internal as well as external provisions. The finance element of the system enables cost-benefit analysis of different approaches to service delivery and provides customers with a reliable mechanism for modelling the cost implications of new approaches. All providers can be paid and managed, including foster carers. Budget monitoring and reporting are inherent within the solution and workflow can also be set to manage financial authorisation, according to local rules and alerts to potential overspends.

Portals

The solution can be enhanced with the use of portals to support online collaboration and information sharing with children, parents, carers and professionals. Liquidlogic solutions are fully integrated with an organisation’s own website and are accessed securely via two-step authentication.

The Benefits of Portals

  • Professionals can make online notifications about children who they are concerned about and the information can be captured directly into the application.
  • Workers can collaborate online with the families they are working with to seek their views, send and receive messages and share documentation with them, such as assessments or plans
  • Workers can request contributions from 3rd party professionals to their assessments by sending sections of a form out to them to complete. One example of this is when a health professional is asked to comment on the health needs of a child or young person

Other Key Features

Below are some more key features of our solution.

Family Working

The need to record information for a sibling group multiple times to produce a single child’s record is not an issue for Liquidlogic users. Customers get the best of both worlds; individual child records, as required under Data Protection Legislation, with the convenience of working in a single meeting, form or assessment for multiple siblings. Answers can be recorded once for siblings or differentiated where needs and strengths may vary. The system will retain an individual record for each child, whilst presenting a consolidated family view for system users. Workers can choose to output their work as children or as siblings. For example, a child protection conference worker may need to see a composite report with all siblings included, but if a child wants to view their record as an adult, a worker can produce a report easily with just the child’s data.

Genogram

The genogram is created based on the person’s existing recorded relationships. This saves time for practitioners and provides a view of a child’s family at a glance which can also be embedded into any of the forms within the solution.

LiquidLogic Atom

Children are part of a family system that can often be very complex. Their needs and presenting risks can change regularly, as well as evolve in and out of different classifications and cohorts. This complexity and movement can be presented in a user-friendly format: Liquidlogic Atom. Atom enables users to see a person’s network, showing their relationships and professional involvements, as well as key information such as their address, current and historical case status, for example, early help, child protection, out-of-home care and adoption and a host of other data.

Flexibility

The Child Protection solution includes a form designer to enable customers to build, amend and deploy their forms, as well as adapt rapidly to changing needs and priorities. This empowers customers to customize their forms to reflect their chosen practice model, through which workers can be supported to achieve model fidelity as well as quality standards. This powerful tool does more than build questions; logic can be embedded within forms to enable data to be re-used, to reduce user input. Forms can also interact with workflow so that answers or scores from an assessment can initiate new workflows and processes. Form answers are also reportable through the Liquidlogic Data Warehouse. The workflow is extremely configurable. New and existing pathways can be configured according to local requirements.

Security

Liquidlogic’s granular security supports data protection requirements and offers the flexibility for local customization and tailored data views. This sophisticated security profiling empowers external stakeholders to contribute data appropriately – a prerequisite for true multi-agency working.

Customers can locally define data sharing between early help and child protection services and stipulate which agencies/ professionals can see information according to their job role and in line with data protection principles.

Joined Up Working

Whilst it is possible to only use the Early Help or Child Protection solution as a standalone application, the real power of the Child Protection system is when it is used in its entirety as an integrated platform. This enables a more coordinated effort across agencies and facilitates referrals between them.

Having a single platform across child protection and early help services encourages professionals to collaborate and importantly to share information easily. It provides a full and clear audit trail of the child/family’s history and journey through the organisation’s services. It becomes much more difficult for cases to fall between the cracks or for important historical information to be missed.

Summary

The Liquidlogic platform provides a flexible local framework to support statutory case work and multi-agency coordination and provision of social care and early help services with an option to include an integrated finance solution. It is a user-friendly and flexible solution that offers a high degree of local tailoring and configuration to ensure it meets statutory requirements as well as local business processes and practice requirements.
