System C Bolsters Maternity and Neonatal Offering with Acquisition of Clevermed

System C Healthcare (“System C”) is pleased to announce that it has acquired leading maternity and neonatal patient record software provider, Clevermed.

About Clevermed & BadgerNet

Clevermed is best known for its fully integrated patient clinical care records (spine services), reporting services, patient portal services, and its flagship product, BadgerNet, an end-to-end service supporting all aspects of electronic recording for women and children’s health.

BadgerNet is used by nearly every neonatal unit in the UK, as well as many maternity units. By the end of 2023 it is estimated that 45% of UK pregnancies will be recorded on BadgerNet. Along with clinical access, every day the system supports over 40,000 women and families across the UK who log in for a view of their notes and/or their baby’s neonatal journey online through the Badger Notes phone app.

Expanding System C's Maternity Offerings 

This acquisition will broaden System C’s product portfolio, enhancing the company’s maternity offering, and supporting its goal to deliver integrated digital solutions that span the entire patient journey from prenatal services to end of life care.

Clevermed's Global & Collaborative Efforts 

Clevermed provides electronic maternity and neonatal records for women and children to all key stakeholders including clinicians, parents, and women. It works with Health Boards and Trusts in the UK and has worked closely with the New Zealand government and clinical community for over ten years.

Clevermed will continue to be headquartered in Edinburgh, with no immediate changes to personnel. The senior leadership team, including founder, and current Product Director, Peter Badger, will remain as a product advisor supporting System C’s new Chief Product Officer, Julie O’Connor.
