System C completes record-breaking child health deployment across the West Midlands

20th March 2017

The whole West Midlands region is now served by a single child health database, using System C's CarePlus software to house records for a record 2.3 million children.

The system went live ahead of schedule in March 2017 after a complex integration project, completed by System C in just over 1 year. It follows one of the first region-wide child health procurements run by NHS England in line with the new Children’s Health Digital Strategy.

Benefits of the new single database, which covers Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Herefordshire, Sandwell, Shropshire, Solihull, Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Telford and Wrekin, Walsall, Warwickshire, Wolverhampton and Worcestershire, include improved care quality, safety and efficiency.

CarePlus will also provide automated birth registration and integrate with a wide range of organisations and services across the region, including maternity hospitals, blood spot laboratories, hearing screening services, GP practices and the Personal Demographics Service.

System C’s CarePlus solution is now used across 79 UK CCGs, covering records for 6.2 million children.
