System C and Bluespier Team Up to Provide Integrated Theatre Management System to Medway Users.

System C Healthcare and Bluespier are today launching their new integrated theatre management solution for users of Medway EPR.

The two systems are being very tightly integrated, using intelligent software to achieve the most secure and efficient level of inter-operation possible. As well as standard links such as MPI, waiting list and attendance feeds, the combined systems will share the same look and feel.

The tight integration will enable Medway users to launch the theatre management system from within Medway, in patient context, and switch seamlessly at the patient level in and out of the wider electronic case note. Users will be able to access the theatres system from a number of areas within Medway such as Outpatients, Inpatients and the patient’s homepage. The option to view theatre diaries and sessions will be available from the Medway menu.

Bluespier’s integrated software gives hospitals up to the minute information about where patients are on their surgical pathway and on current theatre usage. This, together with the ability for staff to capture and retrieve relevant clinical data, means that hospitals are able to optimise use of theatre facilities, reduce administration time and improve patient safety as well as the overall patient experience.

“Our Bluespier integration sets a new standard for the integration of best of breed products and we intend to work with other suppliers in a similar way”, said Markus Bolton, joint CEO of System C Healthcare. “There are many excellent products on the market which enhance patient care and part of our role as a core system supplier is to make sure that such products can be integrated in a way that brings maximum benefits to our users.”

The Bluespier theatre management system is highly efficient and extremely popular, particularly with clinicians and theatre managers. It supports all theatre management functions such as scheduling, utilisation and patient tracking, resource management, clinical documentation and coding, local and national data returns with its unrivalled clinical content and functionality. It also offers a number of additional modules including stock management and an anaesthesia module with device integration. Bluespier has its systems installed in over 30 Trusts in the UK.

“System C is a leading supplier with 21 major EPR sites and shares our commitment to delivering quality solutions for healthcare. We are delighted to be working in partnership with them and to have the opportunity to strengthen the offering from home grown business,” said Susan Williams, managing director of Bluespier. “This type of close integration is just what the NHS needs and we are expecting it to bring benefits to both of our user bases.”

This is System C’s second strategic alliance in four months. In October 2014 System C teamed up with Graphnet Health to launch Medway CareCentric, a shared care record solution, which allows Medway EPR users, GPs and other care professionals to build a single patient record across a care community.
