St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has been shortlisted for this year’s Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) Awards for its digital transformation programme in partnership with System C.
The HFMA Awards celebrate innovation and excellence in healthcare finance and the Trust has been nominated for the Delivering Value with Digital Technologies Award. It’s a newly introduced category for 2021, which aims to recognise a project or initiative that is both innovative and increases value by improving patient outcomes at the lowest possible cost with the aid of digital technologies.
In its award submission, St Helens and Knowsley detailed how it has fast-tracked digital transformation for safer and more efficient care with the introduction of System C’s care co-ordination platform - CareFlow Connect, as part of its wider CareFlow EPR optimisation strategy.
The Connect roll-out has contributed to more than 2,000 clinicians and nurses moving off paper for observations, assessments, handover and referrals, with over 40,000 electronic handovers completed per month. The new digital processes are also supporting the Trust’s target to remove 90% of paper from patient care.
Senior financial and innovation professionals from across the NHS form the judging panel that is looking for evidence of a high degree of innovation and progress towards a value-driven approach, clear benefits from the use of digital health technology, how outcomes have been measured and improved, and the impact on costs.
Finalists will be announced during the Awards ceremony on Thursday 9 December 2021 at London Hilton Metropole and streamed online.
