Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has selected System C, a McKesson company, to supply and implement its Medway Patient Administration System (PAS)

6th July 2012

Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has selected System C, a McKesson company, to supply and implement its Medway Patient Administration System (PAS).

Over the coming months, Southend will be deploying the Medway PAS, A&E and business intelligence products across the Trust.

Grahame Tosh, Medical Director at Southend University Hospital, said "This is a quantum leap forward for this hospital. Our old PAS has served us well but is outdated. We see having a modern PAS as a huge opportunity to improve care for patients".

Nick Fernandez, Director of IT, said the Medway PAS/EPR had been selected following a rigorous 12-month OJEU procurement process. "Medway will be the keystone of our IT future strategy as we roll out modern, user-friendly clerical and clinical systems across the Trust", he said.
Medway will replace the Trust's longstanding TotalCare PAS from McKesson.

Southend University Hospital provides care for a local population of some 330,000 people in South East Essex, handling some 790,000 outpatient appointments and 90,000 inpatient appointments annually.
