CarePlus Child Health Support Specialist Graduate

Role Summary

This role is part of a small expert support team who support and maintain the market leading Child Health System: CarePlus. As a member of the team the person will have the opportunity to utilise their skills and creativity across a range of responsibilities as the product continues to be deployed to a significantly increasing customer base.

Opportunities to expand the range of technical skills into associated areas of technology are likely over time as customer requirements extend and interoperability across the System C and Graphnet Alliance portfolio is pursued in addition to interoperability with selected 3rd party solutions.

  • Provide application support to customers including advice and guidance as well as undertaking bug fixing;
  • Undertaking routine updates to customers of the software and system reference data (e.g. QAS postcode files);
  • Conduct testing of new and maintenance product solution releases;
  • Undertake the maintenance and creation of product support documentation;
  • Conduct regular reviews of the configuration build and associated documentation and resolve any issues;
  • Work with System C and client project teams to facilitate a smooth implementation of the product solution and any associated 3rd party integrated software solutions (example: PDS)
  • Assist with testing of the system appropriate to enable Clinical Safety sign-off;
  • Provide technical data migration and application support for deployments which will involve liaising with customers, third parties and other members of the CarePlus Team;
  • Undertake data migration activities where required recognising configuration issues and ensuring resolution;
  • Some projects may include involvement in the development, maintenance and production of documentation relating to the use of ad-hoc data collection tools for client sites;
  • Assist with deployment testing to ensure fit for purpose and go live;

Knowledge, skills and experience

Person specification:

  • Team player, who thrives in a small team environment and enjoys taking personal responsibility for delivery of specified objectives as well as contributing creative ideas to enhance product capability;
  • Willingness to learn new development techniques;
  • Experience of software testing;
  • Willingness to learn the use of both clinical and administrative functionality in Child Health workflows and information requirements; 
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a busy and challenging environment;
  • Ability to work with clients and prioritising the outstanding tasks;

Skills required - essential:

  • Proven programming experience;
  • Must hold a Computing degree level 2.1 or higher (or equivalent qualification);
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills both orally and in writing;
  • Good Microsoft Office skills (WORD, Excel and PowerPoint);

Skills required - desirable:

  • Java development / support experience;
  • HTML development / support experience ;
  • System testing experience;
  • Intersystems Cache/Ensemble development experience (training will be provided where necessary);
  • Data migration experience;
  • Experience of system testing, development and utilisation of test scripts etc.;
  • Experience in Agile Development Methodologies;
  • Use of supporting systems e.g. JIRA, REMEDY or similar;
  • Ability to organise and co-ordinate areas of work for yourself;
  • Self-starter with great determination and motivation to succeed;
  • Ability to work within project constraints to ensure that milestones and delivery dates are met;
