IGFlow is a web-enabled software tool which helps you to more easily collect and manage details of regular flows of Person Identifiable Data at your organisation.  IGFlow enables all staff access to up-to-date procedures, minimising the risk of breaches of confidentiality and security. 

IGFlow has been developed in response to the significant increase in focus on the practice of sharing information.  The Information Commissioner, Richard Thomas, has outlined in the 'Framework code of practice for sharing personal information' guidance for the safe and secure handling of Person Identifiable Data (PID).  Furthermore David Nicholson, the Chief Executive has state that any flow of PID that is sent from an NHS organisation by email, fax, post or web upload must be carried out in a secure manner.

IGFlow helps to meet this requirement by allowing requests to be made via the system for new flows to the appointed administrator (IG Manager or Caldicott Guardian).  These requests are assessed for the level of risk and when approved are made live on the system. There is a full audit trail of approved flows.

IGFlow can become a key part of an organisation's Information Sharing Agreement and can play a key role when setting up individual protocols with partners.
