HealthData Cleanser

HealthData Cleanser and HealthData Validator are software tools designed to assist in the process of performing data cleansing on healthcare data and data migration from one IT system to another. These tools have been developed as a direct result of System C's engagement in many data cleansing and data migration projects, many within the scope of the National Programme for IT (NPfIT).

HealthData Cleanser is a local data cleansing tool designed exclusively for the NHS. It creates a fully cleansed Primary Care register for a local health community (typically an SHA), and reconciles local NHS organisations' Master Patient Indexes against it.

HealthData Cleanser was designed to assist NHS organisations in meeting Connecting for Health's target for data migration for the new NCRS solutions, which states that 95% of active records being migrated must hold a valid and NSTS-traced NHS Number. Many trusts know that their MPIs hold thousands of duplicate and/or "untraceable" patients and the 95% target presents a huge challenge. HealthData Cleanser facilitates the task of cleaning up and matching these records, by highlighting probable errors in the data such as:

In addition, HealthData Cleanser can validate and reformat addresses using the QAS QuickAddress Batch tool. Cleansed data can be output to external files for uploading onto third party systems.
