Medway Emergency Department manages all clinical and administrative aspects of emergency care as a fully-integrated module of the Medway EPR.
The system collects clinical data throughout the emergency department episode including medical history, incident triage details, diagnoses, medications, investigations and treatments. It tracks patients as they move through the department, and externally to theatre or for investigations, and generates discharge summaries which can be transmitted directly to the GP. A&E whiteboards show the status of individual patients and the department as a whole. Read more.
Medway’s order communications and results services are an integrated part of the Medway EPR.
Investigations and services can be ordered and results viewed from any point in the system where a patient is selected; from an emergency department or ward screen, at an outpatient consultation, from dynamic patient work lists or simply when viewing demographic information. Read more.
Medway e-Prescribing offers an intuitive, safe and complete electronic prescribing and medicines administration experience.
The integration of patient-specific data from the clinical database means that clinicians can access real-time clinical information during the process of prescribing – clinical notes, for example, diagnostic and procedure coding, patient observations, fluid balance, and pathology results. Pharmacists likewise have access to this information when validating the prescription, and the nurse when administering the drug. Read more.
Medway includes a comprehensive electronic Clinical Noting designer tool, which allows forms, protocols and care pathways to be locally created and published to the clinical user community. These forms include items from a Trust-managed data dictionary, sharing data across the patient’s record. Notes can take many different forms and outputs, such as clinical assessments, clerking-in forms, discharge summaries and patient questionnaires. Read more.
A native iPad app will support mobile working within the Trust. It will use key features within the iOS platform to ensure data security through encryption. Access rights will be managed through the Medway role-based access control functions.
System C’s open integration architecture is further enhanced via a number of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). These APIs will support the Medway Mobile application but will also be packaged and made directly available to customers and third parties as part of the Medway Interoperability suite.
