24th April 2009System C wins International Security Standard

System C Healthcare has been awarded an ISO 27001 certificate for meeting stringent international data security standards.

The new ISO standards incorporate the security requirements set by NHS Connecting for Health.

Chris Wells, quality manager at System C, explained that the ISO standards were devised specifically for situations where the protection of information was deemed critical, as in the health sector.

To gain approval, System C had to pass a three-stage external audit process which covered issues such as physical site security, risk assessments and business continuity.

"At System C, we have always been very aware of our responsibilities as custodians of confidential information", Wells said. "Gaining accreditation took us some 12 months, and provided an extremely effective framework for ensuring that all our processes met the toughest security tests."

Chief executive Ian Denley said the company was delighted to be able to demonstrate its commitment to delivering quality products and services to the healthcare sector.

"This amounts to an independent seal of approval which recognises System C's absolute commitment to the all-important issue of data security", he said.
