15th May 2009System C rolls out Choose and Book at Heatherwood and Wexham Park
The trust went live last month with direct bookings into general surgery outpatient appointments. Over the next few months the service will be rolled out to cover all specialties and all six trust sites.
Once fully installed, the software will allow some 400,000 people living in Ascot, Windsor, Maidenhead and surrounding areas to book hospital appointments directly through their GP. The trust handles approximately 230,000 outpatient attendances every year, with patient referrals from Berkshire, South Buckinghamshire, Hillingdon, North West Surrey and North East Hampshire.
Marie Lessing, the trust's Head of IT Development and Programme Support said "We desperately needed a system able to support direct booking for our GPs and their patients. System C provided a cost effective and flexible solution, fully compliant with the National Programme for IT. The deployment itself was first rate". She added: "The system is both simple to use and fast, which means that it has proved really popular with our staff".

"It is fantastic that we continue to deploy systems in support of the National Programme. The project took just five months from initiation to initial implementation.
