06th May 2009System C launches Medway Sigma in the Middle East

System C Healthcare plc is launching its Medway Sigma patient management and electronic patient records system into the Middle East healthcare market.

The UK software and consultancy company joined with local partner E3 Corp to showcase the latest release of the software at the HIMSS Middle East conference in Bahrain this month.

"The opportunities here for the Sigma product are huge," said John Ironmonger, System C's services director.

System C's advanced PAS/EPR system is widely used across the NHS.  The latest version, Medway Sigma, stands out for its ease of use and its wide ranging functionality.

"Not only is the system easy to configure for all kinds of health facilities with different process flows to those in the UK, but it also adapts easily to new languages and even character sets," Mr Ironmonger said.

"We have worked closely with Microsoft to give users a familiar look and feel, consistent with emerging common user interface standards.  Anyone using products such as Word and Excel will be at home with Sigma.  Also, the system is based around a highly scalable Service Orientated Architecture which IT professionals are now demanding."

Medway Sigma has also been designed to be compliant with Microsoft's Connected Health Framework, an architectural approach to developing health information networks which many countries are adopting to support their e-health policies. This means that Medway Sigma has a true n-tier architecture which is both highly scalable and high-performance.

Paul Dewey, general manager of Dubai-based E3, welcomed System C's entry to the market. "The opportunities in this part of the world are growing extremely rapidly. System C has a very modern solution that is well-placed to compete for market share," he said.

In selling to the Middle East markets, System C will also be working closely with US IT giant Lawson Corp.  Lawson Corp approached System C after identifying the company as being able to meet the Middle East's demands for integrated patient management solutions.
