Medway Digital Pens

Medway's clinical applications can support the use of digital pens as data capture devices, allowing community and hospital care to be joined together in real time. 

In maternity care, for example, digital pens can be used to complete forms during booking, antenatal and postnatal visits in community settings.  These forms then appear in two places at once: the recorded keystrokes are transmitted back to the patient's electronic notes by phone or by docking the device (either immediately or later).  The original hard copy is left with the mother. 

Benefits:

• Supports any 'near-patient' data capture where computer use is inappropriate
• Supports familiar nursing or midwifery practice with low technology costs
• Most paper clinical forms in use can be digitised
